This publication of proceedings (anthology) presents seven peer reviewed scientific contributions presented at the international conference EAA in Rome, 28‑31 August 2024 at Sapienza University. The contributions were presented at the session Reflecting History in Architecture and Vernacular Design – Directing Sustainable Futures which was co-organized by Magnus Rönn, Helena Teräväinen and Leif Östman.
The articles in this publication contribute to one or more of the four specified directions:
- Sustainability, heritage, and the urban space
- Innovation, new thinking in architecture, and learning from the past
- Expressions of history in sustainable design
- Architecture and archaeology in cooperation
The contributions in the publication are submitted by researchers from Aalto University and Tampere University in Finland, Chalmers University of Technology, National Technical University in Athens, Gothenburg University, and Oviedo University.
